Although the connection between attention deWcit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and developmental coordination disorder (DCD) has been recognized for several decades, little research has examined the relationship between these two disorders. This paper draws attention to the contribution the cognitive-energetic model (CEM) can make in determining the speciWc nature of these two
disorders. An information processing approach such as the CEM is a useful model to identify specific and overlapping mechanisms that are disrupted in these two disorders. This paper describes the CEM and reviews the research so-far in relation to the model. …

• The potential for an integrated five-factor personality model and ADHD was examined.
• ADHD symptom groups are inattention (IA) and hyperactivity/impulsivity (HI).
• Conscientious inhibition had stronger negative associations with IA than HI.
• Agreeable inhibition had stronger negative associations with HI than IA.
• IA and HI were about equally associated positively with negative emotionality.

Interactions among attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
and problem gambling in a probabilistic reward-learning task

h i g h l i g h t s
• We hypothesized that problem gambling and ADHD are linked by dysregulation of the neural processing involved in both reward processing and
attention control.
• ADHD additionally impairs reinforcement-driven choice adaptation in subjects with problem gambling.
• Nongamblers participants tend to tolerate losses following good bets.
• Unmedicated ADHD gamblers tend to tolerate losses following bad bets.
• Stabilization of dopamine signaling by treating ADHD is itself also a treatment for certain forms of problem gambling.

– ADHD college students are compared to their typically developing peers on neural and behavioural indices of working memory (WM).
– Neural indices of working memory (P3) are examined during working memory encoding using EEG.
– ADHD group showed lower P3 during working memory encoding, suggesting an inefficient encoding process in WM.
